The DREAM Foundation

After more than 40 years of serving the community, ‘The Friends of DeCosta Headley’ transitioned

its community-based supportive services programs to a new philanthropic entity named

‘Developing Restoring Enriching Advancing Many Foundation, Inc.’ (‘D.R.E.A.M. Foundation’).

This new 501(c) (3), tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization is destined to be the vehicle to take

our many long-standing assistance programs benefiting communities to greater heights.

With help of many philanthropist—within both the community and interested parties—we have

brought services to the poor and disenfranchised people and groups (singularly and with other

community-based organizations), such as:

Hunger Program

  • Fed between 15 - 20,000 community persons in annual food donations as well as senior and community events;
  • Annual Pre-thanksgiving dinner and Turkey Drive;

Health Programs

  • Health fairs
  • Work with various health care providers for children with special needs and senior citizens;

Educational programs

  • Scholarships --provide scholarships sending youth to college as well as providing college tours to campuses around the country
  • Training programs- our on-the-job training method takes place in a normal working situation, using the actual tools, equipment, documents or materials that trainees will use when fully trained. On-the-job training has a general reputation as most effective for vocational work. It involves employee training at the place of work while he or she is doing the actual job;

Introduction of Inner City Youth to Summer Camps

  • Sending girls aged 8-12 years and boys 8-15 years to summer camps as well
  • Career Awareness Program (CAP/Camp Mariah) for children currently in the 6th grade. Both programs are in in cooperation with the Fresh Air Fund.

Other work of the (‘D.R.E.A.M. Foundation’).

  • Housing assistance programs
  • Job placement programs, and
  • Annual holiday toy and food distributions, among other works.

"Developing Inclusive Collaborations Through Community Building"

2019 theme “Developing Inclusive Collaborations Through Community Building”

After more than 40 years of serving the community, ‘The Friends of DeCosta Headley’ transitioned its community-based supportive services programs to a new philanthropic entity named ‘Developing Restoring Enriching Advancing Many Foundation, Inc.’ (‘D.R.E.A.M. Foundation’). This innovative 501(c) (3), tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization will be our vehicle to take our longstanding assistance programs benefiting communities to greater heights.

 Our most prestigious Hall of Fame Awards will be conferred upon to seven (7) outstanding individuals. This year’s theme is “Developing Inclusive Collaborations Through Community Building.” These awards identify selfless individuals who work behind the scenes without seeking the limelight for their efforts, while lending credit to others. In everything that they do, they respect all of our communities’ citizens-- generously increasing access to resources and promoting equal treatment and opportunity. We recognize that even though an individual may differ in some ways; we often share common personal goals and objectives. These awardees are unique individuals who have reached out to the community as well as individuals to help them overcome obstacles without expecting any reward or recognition.

 In addition to recognizing the exemplary character and commitment as well as the viable work in the community, this is a fundraiser for the D.R.E.A.M. Foundation. This fundraiser assists us to continue many of our initial projects including providing scholarships for youth and grants to community-based programs as well as coordinate community health workshops and improve provisions for senior citizens and indigent members of our community during the Thanksgiving Holiday.
